Wiimote Friends

The Macquarie University ICT Innovations Centre http://www.macict.edu.au/is holding a conference for teachers wanting to/currently using the Wiimote IWB.

Session flyer: http://www.macict.edu.au/images/flyers/wiimoteinteractiveclassrooms.pdf

Find out how to make your classroom interactive using Wiimote technologies.

Myself with Jol and Matt(just 2 of the awesome crew at MUICTIC) will be presenting. Presentations will focus on the technology but most importantly the curriculum and pedagody (what really matters when using technology).

Participant can either come for the information and walk away with some really cool ideas or pay a little more and away with the hardware including a IR-pen and Wiimote to help implement those cool ideas.

Hi Ben,

Your effort to introduce the wiimote whiteboard to classrooms is great! Smiley

Will be the session recorded on video? It will be greatly beneficial to everyone who cannot make it to the presentation.

Thanks.

Hi Ben, Boon and all who have read this thread...

Our plan at the ICT Centre was  to present a small, user friendly workshop to teachers in school's who were interested in using a Wiimote to aid and improve quality teaching in their classrooms. I can honestly say that we are blown away by how much interest has been expressed both in Australia and internationally by this little experiment of ours.

Based on the threads in this forum and the emails we have received at the Centre, we are now investivating recording the sessions and archiving the videos to the internet (YouTube, TeacherTube, our website, this website... wherever) for people to view and develop resources, skills and knowledge about the wiimote.

stay tuned here or check on the www.macict.edu.au website closer to the date (Jan 20th) for more information...

Thanks again for your interest,

Matt & Jola

Thanks very much toppy. I know a few teachers that would be interested if they could see a video demonstrating the usefulness within the classroom, but not very interested with just the concept. I'm talking about the kind of people that are computer literate only because they were forced to be.

I keep checking the site and emailing whoever I can. Is there a video out there somewhere that I'm not finding. I have been really excited about this video. We tried to get our principal to send us to Australia, but for some reason, it just wasn't in the budget!!!

The vidoe is in teh hands of Matt & Jol fron MAC ICT. They are going to edit and add to youtube.

This week I was asked to present to the Australian National IWB conference in July. I will definately record both these sessions an dpost them.

Have you looked at the wiki http://www.boonjin.com/smoothboard most of the information presented focused on the key ideas from the wiki.

From the conference a number of schools in australia are colecting data on the usage of the Wiimote IWB to give us some real data on the usage and problems.

Hi Ben,
In regards to the National IWB Conference being held in July. Is there any chance of getting the specific details of when, where, cost and how to attend? CEO has said that they are interested in sending someone if it is possible.

FYI all classes up and running perfectly. I made a laminated A4 instruction guide (wiimote connection for dummies hahaha) which proved enormously helpful. The children obviously took to this with great enthusiasm and now "fight" to take turns setting it up. It's like THEY have just "invented" an IWB. They are so motivated to use them!!! It is so cool seeing kids empowering their teachers to explore and implement better pedagogy and therefore enhance THEIR learning environment.

Cheers,
Joe

Joe
http://www.iwb.net.au, under conferences.

Any chance of converting that help card to a PDF & posting?
