I am running Windows XP SP3 on an IBM Thinkpad.  I purchased a Dongle - Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltg that shows up as Generic BT Radio.  When I first put the dongle in the pc, it installs fine although it does give a msg that the hardware may not work properly until I reboot.  I decline to reboot.  I run through the BT devices install wizard to add my device, etc. and it find the Nintendo RVL-CNT-01 and I can connect.  BTW - I never get a pairing screen that I've seen many mention.  I'm using Johnny Lee's software and ActivInspire and no problem.

The problem I have is that I cannot do this a second time.  It still sees the wiimote in the BT devices, but it will not connect a second time.  I must take out the dongle and start the entire process all over each time I want to use it.  I also have to delete the found device and then add it again.  If I don't, the wiimote will not stay connected.

I have updated all the drivers (using the don't search for drivers option which appears successful and the search for which returns a msg saying that I already have the most updated drivers).  Neither one helps.

I also cannot open my Bluetooth places or Bluetooth Configuration to see what's going on.  All help is appreciated.

I am using the Microsoft BT stack.  
Each time you want to connect the Wii Remote, you may need to manually remove the Wiimote HID device before you reconnect the Wiimote for the second time.
Yes, I am having to this and that's not so bad, but do I really need to remove the BT dongle each time and re-install that?  It's rather time consuming... but not as bad as rebooting my "dinosaur" IBM thinkpad.
If you are using Ms Bluetooth Stack, Smoothboard's SmoothConnect will automatically handle the connection of your Wiimotes to your computer.
I've tried using the smoothboard with no success!  I get pop-ups saying "found new hardware"  "A problem occured during hardware installation - may not work properly" "found new hardware - Bluetooth HD Device", but the smoothboard screen continues to alternate saying "connecting" or "installing" and then comes back with a message saying HID device not found!   Very frustrating!
