Have issue with connections...well sort of.  Bluetooth connects fine but when running the Wii software for whiteboard the IR Dot is showing 1 2 3 4 and will not calibrate on whiteboard or even move the mouse on the laptop screen.  I have to kill the calibration for the mouse on the laptop to work again.

Could this be interference from another IR source or just a fake and dodge Wii Remote?

If I wave the Wii Remote it will track on the monitor screen but won't respond to IR Pens.

Sounds like you have a Wumote, boonjin is looking o see if he can get working with smoothboard standby.
