I can't get this thing to work right and I'm starting to think that it just isn't ever going to work on this machine. Can someone help give me a definitive answer so I can either give up or try something else?
I've already been through the self help guide and other previous posts but i haven't found anything that helps. If I've missed something please point it out or explain it again.
I have Vista, 32 bit, built in bluetooth hardware. It runs Dell wireless 355C Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR module with Microsoft Bluetooth enumerator.
Blue soleil's harware check tells me their software won't work on my machine, so that's out (anyone know exactly why that is?)
I followed the connecting to vista video and instructions on this site and everything seems to go fine. It connects it shows the wiimote in the connected devices list and the lights keep flashing but don't go out after 20 seconds anymore, meaning that there's some sort of connection... but they don't go solid.
Now is where everything goes to hell...
WiiVR, whiteboard, Wiimote test programs all tell me there is no Wiimote connected (that same "...is it connected?" message). The software from this thread:
http://www.wiimoteproject.com/wiimote-and-bluetooth-connectivity/wiimoteconnect-(searching-beta-testers)-update(0-5)!!-please-test-it/ does connect to the wiimote now if i connect it via the bluetooth devices first (it didn't when i tried it a couple of months ago) but still won't run any programs through that software. WiiVR tells me there's some Direct 3D error when opened through Wiimote connect.
When I first started messing with this several months ago I was able to get the whiteboard working once or twice but now it won't work. I also got one of the wiimote check programs to run and all the buttons, camera etc all checked out. Nothing much has changed in terms of bluetooth hardware/software but now none of these work. However I did get one of the wiimote check programs to run today and the buttons were responding etc but I was also (simultaneously) getting the vista "program has stopped working" error message which would then shut it down if i clicked "ok".
I can't figure out what's going on. Basically I think I need to tear out the built in blutooth hardware and get a USB bluetooth device. So I can use bluesoleil or something more friendly... or somehow replace the MS inbuilt software (if that's even possible)
Am I right in thinking I can't have a bluetooth USB thingy with it's own drivers at the same time as the built in hardware/software as there will be problems with the drivers conflicting?
Interestingly when I was first messing with it, the wiimote didn't come up as the same code as everyone else is getting in the bluetooth devices console. A second wiimote did show up under the "nintendo RVL CNT" name and the driver download icon popped up in the bottom corner of my screen. Now they both show up as "nintendo RVL CNT". Both wiimotes are genuine nintendo ones. I don't know i this matters but I thought it was interesting
Help?
If it's never going to work I just want to know so I can stop trying.
