Hi Everyone,

I have a Dell D620 laptop with a built in bluetooth adapter and Vista running on it.  in installed the most recent 5.x of Blue Soleil and it picks up the wiimote as a joystick.  (the whiteboard program then doesnt recognize it).  I then downloaded the BS 2.3 driver set and it crashed the machine with a bluescreen.  After recovering from that, I am now wondering how the heck I am suppose to connect the wiimote to my laptop.

Any ideas??  Instructions??

Thanx

Charles

I have the same setup (D620, Vista, built-in BT adaptor).  I have been trying to get the Wiimote to talk to the laptop using the standard Dell-provided BT driver. I have not tried BlueSoliel yet (since I don't understand what it is for I didn't want to introduce another complication).

I can sometimes get the Wiimote to show up as a connected bluetooth device by adding it from the bluetooth control panel applet.  It is not reliable, however.  Often if the wiimote is turned off and back on it doesn't seem to connect.

Once, I was successful in connecting to the Wiimote using a test program that I found on the net.  That program was able to display the status of button presses, and the distance calculations from the IR sensor (sorry, I can't remember the name of that program and I don't have the D620 here.)  So there is some hope.

However I have not been successful with Johnny Lee's DesktopVR app, nor with the test program that comes with WiimoteLib.  Both give an error indicating that they can't find a wiimote connected.  I modified his app to use the latest version of WiimoteLib (1.2.1) but still no luck.

I was eventually able to get the DesktopVR program running on the Dell D620 laptop with Vista (without Blue Soleil).

The main problem I was having was to get the Wiimote to reliably connect with the computer.  Using Vista's 'Add device' option from the Bluetooth control panel applet, I would always be able to get the wiimote to be recognized as a device, but often it would not go into the Connected state.

Once I was able to get it Connected (I haven't figured out yet why it only works once in many attempts) I was able to run the DesktopVR program and get the 3D effect.

I should mention that I downloaded the 1.2.1 version of WiimoteLib and made a few code changes to the DesktopVR program.  I don't know if it would have worked without this.
