I'm already anticipating the answer of no, but I did a preliminary search and found nothing, so I figure there's no harm in asking.

But can this setup work without using bluetooth?  I would definitely like to know.

I have seen at least one video on youtube showing how to connect a wiimote directly to a computer with a cable.  The person uses a serial mouse, takes it apart, and connect the wiimote into it, then plugs the serial mouse into the computer.  So... it is possible.  This particular connect (above) turns the wiimote into a mouse directly I think, more configuring or a different setup would be needed to use the white board.  But it is possible.  However, weigh the work required in that to buying a bluetooth dongle... doesn't seem to be a comparison.

Yeah I figured it would be more work than it's worth, but I'm not really a fan of blue tooth in general and mostly I was curious about it.

I'll probably go for the dongle myself, thanks for the information though.
