Any ideas on how long these things are made to last??  Not sure if 5-8 hours a day, 5 days a week is what they were built for.

Anyone think they will start burning out after a year or two??

As long as you have rechargeable batteries and/or enough batteries to support that much usage, it should be fine.  The wiimote is one of the most advanced technologies of our time and, based on it's composition, looks like it will last at least 4 to 5 years if maintained well.  I'm not sure what you are using it for, but it would be cheaper to buy parts to build Wiimote-type devices if you are not using all of the Wiimotes functions.

Supposedly 60 hours, if only accelerometer is active, and approximately 30 hours if both accelerometer and IR camera are active.

Btw, I thought this will be the topic on how long it will take till something replaces Wii Remote. Cheesy
