I bought a (probably fake) Wiimote for $20. I got everything to work, except the remote only seems to track 2 IR sources (instead of 4). The raw (x,y) coordinates of point 3 and 4 are always set to 0xffff.
Is this is a known issue with these fake remotes?

Hi,

If you are sure that you the Wiimote's view have 4 IR dots, it is most probably because of a fake Wiimote. These WIimotes have inconsistent results especially for the IR camera where the sensitivity varies considerably in comparison with an original Wiimote.

Please do try to place the IR points away from each other and not too near the Wiimote's camera.
