I have this, http://gear.ign.com/articles/840/840028p1.html

The 'wireless' reciever, that connects to the wiimote, does not work.  And i messed with it so can't trade it in  Tongue

Is there any other way to use it, like make it a separate BT device or write a program to interface over WiFi?  I'm just wondering.

It would be required to send data to the nunchuck, not just pick up what it broadcasts with RSSI.

Edit: It would be worth it as it wouldn't sap the wiimote battery and, especially if you're using MotionPlus, you don't want the extra inconvenience / weight.

Any ideas?  Grin  or is it just junk now...

Maybe I'm wrong but I think that's nothing you can do with it, I think the connection between the nunchuk and the reciever is like the one wireless mice with dedicated usb dongle, sure it's not wifi and probably even bluetooth...I tried to connect one of these mice to my usb bluetooth adapter but the pc doesn't even see it
Sorry for the bad news, I hope I'm wrong

Most likely it's a proprietary 900MHz (or other ISM band) protocol.  Not much you can do.
