Well, i hope it's a fix... All those of you who have problems with narrow angle/low power/no reflection, etc. could try something like this:

On the left is a pic of a regular IR pen. On the right is a pic of the same pen but with IR LED turned in the direction of Wii. After that you can still fine-tune the tip, etc. You could even bend the legs on the LED, so the LED is still at the same position as on left pic, just pointed in different position. Also, this way there is no more loss of sensitivity because of the distance in back fit pens.

The only thing to remember is to hold the pen in the same position, so that LED is always pointint in the direction of Wii. Right?

I tried to make some quick-tape-battery-led monsters and the above theory works just fine. Just need someone with skills and tools to make me a proper pen now.

Ok, after making a pen out of nothing:
-reset switch from old 486 PC
-AAA battery
-an 17 degrees IR LED !!!

Some useful info:
-the LED is bended in a direction of Wii
-distance is 77cm from wii to center of monitor (see pic)
-whiteboard software utilization is 13%

I am a little confused here. Some posts mention using a lens and/or reflector and here I read about fixing narrow angles.
Am I correct that pointing the IR LED to the WiiMote requires wide angle while pointing to the screen requires a clear strong IR circle to be detected by the WiiMote?
