Hi, I need some advie on my LED.. is it good enough?

It is a seimens one from maplins. It can be found here: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ITAG=SPEC&ModuleNo=2259&doy=4m4#spec

now is it good enough for this project? Because i have bought 3 of these for the wii whiteboard but can't get then working. Also, a noob that i am, im not sure what the operating voltage is. could somebody help? I am trying to get it running at 100ma.. how could i do this? Thank You for the help

Hi

Check out these specs for your IR LED
http://www.sage.lunarpages.net/wfc/1/sfh409.pdf

The typical forward voltage at 100mA is 1.3V.
So if you're running it on a AA or AAA battery (1.5V), you will need a 2ohm resistor to limit the current.

Check out this calculator if you're running it on a different power source.
