dumb question
«

Okay so I'm not electronically savvy. I bought an IR LED from radioshack. When running power through it (which it does tested by a whatever they call it meter, the LED does not light up. Is that suppose to be th case? I know IR is invisible to the naked eye but just wanted to make sure before I go to putting things together. If that is the case, is there a way for me to test that it does work before I put it all together? Or am I just an idiot? ;-)
Thanks!
Alan

True, I agree no such thing as a dumb question. Quickly though you can test the IRLED using a video camera, web cam, or camera phone. One if not all of these should see the IRLED when lit.
Another tip is to make sure your positive and negative points are correct. If it does not work one way flip the points and test again.
Hope this helps.
