Hi there

I want something that is self-powered without any dangling cord. Small but controllable, able to press on/off, and I came up with this:

Components:
- IR LED
- Single core wires
- Screws and nuts
- 2 x cable lugs
- plastic washers
- 8-pin I socket
- Micro push button switch
- 2 x LR44 button batteries

I do not have an appropriate resistor so I am driving the IR LED directly from the batteries.
The reason for the 8-pin IC socket is to allow me to add a resistor later on and to change LED whenever it blows :-(

forgot to mention that the batteries are held together with tiny neo disc magnets sandwiched between.

Yeah, this is a 'for fun' type of project.
Took less than an hour to source for parts and build.
I build this 'prototype' version because I want to experiment with different resistors and LEDs.

I am working on the 'real' ones which is more robust and hopefully, more usable.

man, that thing looks pretty bad **LOVE**. it looks like something that the terminator would have on him behind the flesh of his eye or something, heh

I have to say, i do like your switch. where'd you pull that from?

Yeah, I pluck them out while the T-100 was sleeping.. :-)

I bought the micro-switch at 50 cents each.
