Hey I cant get my light pen to work. I bought an infrared light and now am trying to make a pen. I dont have any experience with wiring or anything, but I thought it looked simple enough. Can somebody post a complete explanation of how to do this?

i now have my pen working, heres some photos of it. Its not anything too good but it works fine and is very comfortable. The battery compartment actually doesnt get in the way at all!

It will be easier if you post link to your IR-Light so we know what you are starting with.

You could follow this diagram: http://www.terracode.com/IR_Pen/images/IR_pen_parts.JPG

The long leg of the LED is the positive one.

The best IR LED is Vishay TSAL6400, I had poor results with others.

Hi,

The switch is OK because it is a "normally open" switch.

That battery holder is for AA battery, I use a single AAA battery (1,5v or 1,2v if it is rechargable, doesn't matter). I think most people use AAA batteries, but that's depending the space you have in your pen.
