Gday guys,
ive just got myself the parts i need to make an IR pen, but i have a question which should be a simple answer:

i have the electrical wires soldered to the IR, im pretty experienced with the soldering, but then i touch the other end of the wires to the ends of the battery the LED doesnt light up. Ive tried both wires at each end but nothing. Is the LED supposed to light up when i connect it directly into the battery? or does it have to go through the switch?

Thanks

Fitzy
It's infrared (a spectrum not detectable by the human retna).

Use you mobile phone camera as they usually have an infrared sensitive photo chip.

Will answer all your questions and more.
