Hi All, I have been having difficulty finding a seller here in Toronto who sells IR LED's.  I built one pen but it only has 50 m/a.  It's not very bright at all.  I found another guy who sold me some IR LED's, BUT they don't glow.  He told me it will still work for what I need it to..so my question....does the IR LED HAVE to emit light?

Yes, it has to emit light. But it's OK if it only emits infrared light. And you cannot see infrared light with your bare eyes. You can however use a digital camera or a webcam to check if the LEDs are on since such cameras capture infrared light.

Okay....so the IR LED's I bought today, 940n/ma I think, should work with the Wii remote, even though I cannot see the IR?

Exactly.  In fact if you can see it then it most almost certainly won't work.
