My husband made me a wiimote and an IR pen for my birthday.  I downloaded the software - Wii Whiteboard and did the calibration just fine on my projecter/whiteboard.  It is working and recognizing the wiimote, but when I put the wiimote on the board, the cursor is in a different spot (sometimes I can't even find the cursor).  I haven't mounted the remote anywhere yet, but figured I'd make sure it all works before I find a solid spot for it.  For now, I was just pointing it at the board from a few feet back and staying out of the way of the remote.  Everything seems to be fine since it does recognize it, but just doesn't "track" with where my pen is.  What am I missing or doing wrong?

Hi,

Before the software can track the IR pen, you will need to calibrate the software.

You can take a look at the guide written by Ben on how to calibrate with Smoothboard from

Smoothboard has a calibration guide which will help you with getting the optimum calibration.

Hey, thanks for the quick response!  I did the calibration on the Wii whiteboard software that I got from Johnny Lee.  I touched the four calibration points.  Is there more to do?  It shows that it recognizes it - where it shows a count - when I click my ON button on my pen and put it to the board, it shows that it recognizes "1".  I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Hi,

So does that mean that you are able to calibrate the Wiimote but not being able to track the IR pen?

When you 'on' the pen, where does the cursor appear?

Maybe the cursor control was switched off. If the cursor appears on the top left corner usually it is caused by some other infrared source or a faulty/non-genuine Wiimote.

You should use the Smoothboard software to help you check what is the issue.
