I hope this idea wasn´t posted before... And it´s maybe in the wrong category Smiley

I thought of an IR Pen with integrated left and right click like in the picture.

The LED in the middle is the one which is being tracked for simulating the cursor and it has to be switched permanently on.
Now, for example, when you left-click somewhere, the left LED will glow temporarily like in other whiteboard applications. And then a program recognizes that the left LED is on and the program knows that this is a left click.

Thats just an idea of me...

Hope you understand what i´m trying to explain

Edit: Ignore the red dot in the middle^^ And the distance between the LEDs on the left and right has to be bigger

Yes you post this in the right topic. Similar ideas have been posted, but I think yours might work.

It would work because:
  • 1 IR-Blob = Cursor motion only
  • 2 IR-Blob = Left click
  • 3 IR-Blob = Right click

I would suggest the click associated IR-Leds be mounted on the end of the end of the pen seperated enough so not able to be identified as 1 IR-Blob. This would give you a more functional & professionally presented IR-Pen.

Obviously you woudl have a problem if the Tip IR-Led is block at the same time as a Right Click action as the two end IR-Leds would be identified as a Left Click. But that comes down to user training.

MoKi24 time to start making & coding!

I´m glad you got what I tried to explain Smiley
And your explanation of the different IR-Blobs is better than mine...

I´ve already started , but my coding skills are unfortunately very, very poor Cry   But i´m confident

Just don't lose that confidence. A great idea is only an idea until sheer force pushes it into reality. Your idea is good.

Go go go!

I'm sure when Michael Jordan first throw a ball at a steel hoop it didn't go in without touching the ring!

In fact, Michael Jordan didn't even make his high-school basketball team. He got cut. Smiley
