is IR and IRD the same.
I found at a local electronic stores this Led but I am not shure if there is a difference or if I can use them for making the Ir pen.

Based on the fact that the label says "infrared detector", I'd say those are phototransistors or photodiodes, not LEDs at all.

Curious, LED means Light Emitting Diode.
So the should emitt light....

I believe it says "use with XXXXX LEDs"

I looked up IRD-500 and those are detectors.

I also looked up TLN-100 (look on the bottom of the package "use with TLN-100".)  Those are the IR LED's.

I can't say if they are any good however.
