I also saw this candy at fry's and had the same idea. It works but it is a big hassle. THEN I found WII GUM, same idea, a wii shaped container, acccept this one is quite a bit bigger, and it is a simple tin box in two pieces. I used a keychain LED flashlight for my base which gave me 2 button cell batteries, holer included, and a beautiful push button, all for 99.9 cents.
I removed the original LED (visiblale LED) from the flash light and inserted a bit of wire, with possitive side and negative side each running to the appropriate parts of the button cells.
I ran this wire out and sodered the other end to a Vishay TSAL 6400.
I drilled a large hole through the A button for my button and a small whole throught power button for the TSAL LED.
The only other thing was to keep the button flush up against the led. To acomplish this, I cut up some craft sticks, you know tongue depressor things, and I built up 4 layers to go right under the keychain flashlight and one long stick at the bottom to brace the unit agains the botom of the gum box. They look great, they work great.
