Hi, I looked at Farnell and was all set to order 10 leds but it turned out the minimum order is £20, which I was nowhere near! Is there anywhere else to get these from in the UK (or cheaply delivered to UK) without having to order loads of stuff? After some quick tests I'm not sure the Maplin LEDs I've bought will be up to the job.

Thanks

Rob

I ordered 10pc of Vishay 6400's from a swedish supplier and the cost including shipping and handling to my location is less than £6,50 (shipping costs me about £3)

I will most likely put an order for 100pcs or so...

If you add £2 or something i can send them to you...or whatever the cost is to ship to UK...

I have a shop here in town selling IR's
equivalent to Siemens LD271, 10pcs costs less than £3 and they are quite OK, but I want to compare them to the Vishay's before I go on and ship them abroad...

Strange?
Yesterday I ordered 50 Vishay TSAL6400 from http://www.farnell.com.au (same company, just australian site) they are being shipped from the UK wharehouse to OZ for $11.20AUS total with no postage, which is about £5?

Perhaps give them a call???

Weird! I emailed them and they said "£20 + VAT is the minimum order sorry". Maybe I'll give them a call.

Thanks for your replies both.

I can get them for about 1,50SEK each if I buy 100pcs

that is about:

0,16 Euro
0,13 UK Pounds
0,22 USD
0,27 AUD

This is including shipping to my location in Sweden.

I can send them with regular mail if you want some...I have a Paypal account

Another option is to buy a ready-made pen - for about 10UKP
e.g.    http://www.irpens.co.uk/

Yes buying an IR-Pen does open thsi project but for those with the skill (or even betetr the want to learn the skill) there is so much more to be said for making your own IR-Pen. Plus IR-Pens aren't the only thing the Wiimote hacks need (IR-Glasses, Arrays and static sources) as yet no Seller for these.
