I have my homemade IR Pen hooked up like this:

Positive (AA battery}+--(resistor)-----(switch)----------(IR LED)-\
        |                                                                           |
Negative---  -----------------------------------------/

Everything works...kinda... my light is always on except when I push the momentary switch then ig goes off. What the heck did I do wrong?

On your switch - do you have 3 connectors like the one i use ?

If so you have 2 that is a closed circuit that breaks when you push the button(like in your case)

and one where the button closes the circuit(the one you should use)
