Hi, I´ve been trying the wiimote for a while now and i´ve got this idea for solve the clicking issue:
I´ve heard somewhere that the wiimote has a 100hz frecuency capabilitly to detect an intermitent IR ligth, so, can we use this in our benefit to send different signals to the wiimote using just one IR dot?

For an example:

0Hz IR dot (always on) ----> mouse tracking
40Hz IR dot (intermitent) -----> left click
80HZ IR dot (intermitent) ------> rigth click

To make the IR pen we can cannibalize some of this "made in china" toys that have flashing lights etc... i bougth some ones and will post some photos later.

To the software part i have no idea, idon´t know a thing in programing.

P.D.: I am really sorry for my poor english

Good thinking. But, I've tried contiunous IR light. It really does not work, any time wiimote sees another IR light, the pen behaves as if the left click is pressed and selects all the shortcuts on the desktop. The solution I've found is a button that will allow the IR light on just before you need to write sth on the screen, of course two more buttons for the left and right buttons. Take care.

some time ago i builded an IR detector for control my pc with an ordinary remote control.. can´t believe i didn´t realize before.

http://members.chello.cz/cesko/girderplugin.htm

im trying to use a little universal remote to build the IRpen an add two or three buttons for left click an something else

this is the IR detector

im using it with girder but i think OSS Lirc works too

rigth now im having some issues with the remote and im not really sure how to get constatant IR ligth from it.
the IR detector can read the RC code from the IR ligth and the wiimote would read the ligth position... im pretty sure some compatibility issues will come up :-S, but it should work after some headaches

please tell me what you tink

The pen itself has an RF transmitter which is connected to a normal usb mouse. The IR pen is wireless and has the mouse's left and right click functions with two different buttons and one button for the IR led to light continously. I hoe this will give you some idea.
