I have used my computer screen with the software and controller pointed at it as a whiteboard.  Can I replace the wall screen and projector with the image on an LCD flat screen and use the pen directly on the TV?  The problem with the projectors is the bulb life and the brightness.  An LCD tv does not have those problems.  I was thinking of using a 42 or 52 inch tv woth a 1080P DPI and 120 MHZ.  Has anyone tried this?

Hi Ceholster,

You should be able to use the TV but you will have to note a few issues such as scratching your screen surface and also tracking issues.

As the IR pen is touching the surface, scratching will be a big problem. You may want to protect your screen with a screen protector or hard transparent surface.

The next issue will be the IR emitted by the IR pen may not be dispersed evenly at all directions unlike the normal opaque screens. The IR light may instead be transmitted through the screen's medium and thus losing significant power reflected. To solve this issue, I usually recommend placing the Wiimote at an acute angle with the screen and getting the IR LED with large radiant angle or it can be heavily diffused. This will allow the Wiimote to capture the IR source directly instead of through a reflection.
