Hi,

I'm very newbie here, but I think this uses of Wiimote are very fantastic (I haven't any Wii, but I'm thinking to buy a Wiimote to try).

I think about VRDisplay long time ago, and now I see that this is possible.

Now, I want to do one more step.

VRDisplay can recognize your position, and "move" environment consequently.
With any facial recognizing software, computer can recognize your eyes movements (it is using in some cars, for example).
I don't know to much of programming yet (I'm an Industrial Enginyeer, but I want to learn programming too), but I think that use this "eye's movement" to use like a mouse won't be very difficult.

So, combining this two codes, you will be able to "move" environment with your movements, and move the mouse with your eyes. Anyone is working on it? Is viable and factible?

Greets.

It sounds like a great idea, but I do not think that it could work with the Wiimote alone.  The Wiimote detects infrared light sources and as far as I know, your eyes do not emit infrared light so the Wiimote would be blind Wink to your eye movements.

However, it may be possible to measure infrared light reflected off of your eyes and depending on the reflection, determine where your eyes are located.

Good luck and have fun!

Yes, of course.

I was thinking about a webcam and a software about facial recognizing.

As far as I know, moving the cursor depending on where your eyes are looking would either require a commercial solution, or a custom homemade program.  http://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~hanlen/vision/facelinks.html seems to show a nice collection of free software that may or may not work for your purposes.

For getting started with the basics of programming I would suggest Python (http://www.python.org/doc/) and any of the many Python tutorials on the internet (http://www.google.com/search?q=python+tutorial).  Find the one that works best for you.

I hope I answered your question.

Good luck and have fun!
