This almost was my masters project.

1. Each player's wiimote gets connected to a wearable (a Palm or something similar)
2. Wearables are connected to each other through a WiFi or ZigBee mesh
3. You'd probably want optics on the front of each Wii Remote to push the focal length out a bit (narrow the field of view)
4. Each player's tag is switched by the wearable.  When a trigger is pressed, each tag blinks out a short binary code identifying it.
5. The Wii remote could be more than just a gun - using the accelerometer it could be used as a wand for casting spells.  It could also provide feedback, letting you know when you're being targeted if you cast a protection spell.

#5 is why this didn't end up being my master's project.  The professor who was suggesting it was really heavy on that part.  I decided I didn't want to become known as "the Wii LARPing guy".  YMMV Wink.

the max operating distance is 9.144 m. but i think if i position the computer in the middle if the church it might be able to reach throughout the building. also i figured about 5 ft. or more will do for a good shooting range. the only thing left to do is get a program. are there any low cost (or free) and easy to use programs that are out there, or is this something i would have to take a collage class to program it (i'm still in high school)?

Wouldn't standard wireless rules apply here? Increasing the range of one of the antennas increases the range they can both communicate across. - Think of it like a mobile phone and a mobile tower - the tower can be kilometers away, but your phone can still communicate with it.

We don't perceive but still how do we perceive who we dead and calculation the score? Anniversary "gun" would accept a altered mac address, but anniversary armor would alone accept LED's, so no way to perceive who is shot.
