Oh, before i forget, is it possible to run this software in widescreen mode? I have tried playing about with the config file but with no luck, any help would be great!

Check calibration data...

Have you checked the screen height and aspect settings in your config.dat?
If things are properly calibrated then the "shrinking" of the image as you approach the screen should exactly balance the fact that the screen itself gets bigger in your field of view. So the illusion (when its working) is that the image stays the same but that you can see more.
If you don't have the right settings in your config.dat, then the math doesn't work out and the image seems to shrink or grow as you approach.
Screen height in millimeters is self-explanatory (measure your screen or look up its stats online.) Aspect should be set to your screen resolution width/height in pixels. It apparently defaults to 1024/768 if left at its default setting of 0, so change this if you are running your screen at some other resolution.
