First off, Hi all
Okay my question is, I get this error through windows, "Wiimote FishtankVR has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have no problems running the whiteboard program and haven't built a led array for the finger tracking, but am wondering if I may have overlooked something obvious. I have no problems connecting with the bluetooth or programs like wiinmote. Sorry guys if this is should be a faq question but I haven't found it. I will also provide the error contents if asked and I'm running xp sp2 with .net framework 3.0

Hello,

I don't know much about this error, as I have yet to buy the hardware and get my own setup running.

However, I noticed on Johnny's blog site, he makes a comment about this error:

blarg.... a number of people have been reporting a "Wiimote FishtankVR has encountered a problem" error. but whom are able to run my other programs. Unfortunately, I can't replicate the error on any of my computers and I'm leaving for the holidays. So, fixes may be slow for the next 2 weeks. If you can shed some light on this, please add a comment to this post and I'll upload a fixed version once this problem is hashed out.

Deleting the "config.dat" file and re-running the program may help.
Installing the most recent version of DirectX may help.

(update 12/30/07) I also got some suggestions that this might be due to a "x86/x64 linkage problem" related to 64-bit version of Windows. The program needs to be recompiled for this. I'll try to post a new version sometime in the next few weeks.

Try installing the DirectX Software Development Kit (SDK). It's different from the normal DirectX which ships with Windows.

Fixed the problem for me.

You should try linking your computer to a TV. It worked when I connected it.

The sourcecode for WiiDesktopVr is looking for 2 images

target.png
stad_2.png

located in the root folder of the source...

here is a link to the source from the forum

Thanks for trying to help me out. Those images are in the root folder. I am trying to figure out if this is just a problem with my system and the software or is it related to the bluetooth or something? I have to think that the problem is before it is even trying to connect to the wiimote.

Thanks again for helping me.

OK - that causes the crashes for some when they DL code without the images so you have to code the failover yourself or just make sure the images are present
