Ok, i connected the Wiimote to my built-in BT device on my laptop, recognized but when i run the WiiMultipointGrid sample i cannot see a point moving around there. I put in front of me th Wiimote and picked some aluminium paper around my fingers to reflect IR, but the Grid doesn't show anything, regardless of the low distance... :/

i would try first pointing the wiimote directly at your IR source to see if it picks it up then. if it does then it jsut seems like there is not enough power to your LED's to reflect so you would need either more LED's or more powerful LED's

I can get my wiimote to connect to my BT but when I run the grid a message says "Cannot find a wii remote: error reading data from wiimote...is it connected?"
Perhaps someone knows the solution?

there are many helpful posts about getting the wiimote to connect. a search would be a good start. its hard to jump right in and know everything that people here on the boards have figured out.
welcome to your new addiction.

Hi guys,
I have the same problem like "justG01", everything works fine ... wiimotetest.exe from the Wiimotelib and the WiiWhiteboard program, but only the WiiMultipointgrid post: "Cannot find a wii remote: error reading data from wiimote...is it connected?". And hell jeah I searched the hole web for this problem.
thanks for your answer
greetings

have you looked at the code to verify the connection method's are the same? do you have the direct x sdk installed? are you running vista? if so, are you running in basic colored mode for vista, or have the app running in windowed mode rather than full screen? check your connection methods like in this post

I have the same problem with the error message: "Cannot find a wii remote: error reading data from wiimote...is it connected?", when I try to run teh multiPoint Grid application. The issue is that it actually IS connected, because I can use my IR pen to move things about on the display. I have installed .NET 2.0 and directX. Is there something I've missed? Has anyone experienced the same problem? Thanks

Same Problem for me.
I can use the Whiteboard software, Smoothboard, etc just fine. However when I launch the Multitouch prog I get "Cannot find a wii remote: Error reading data from wiimote...is it connected?
The program automatically launches in full-screen, how can I tell it to launch windowed? If I exit out and right click on the program in my taskbar I can get it to window and see a different error window that says "Error in the application" (There is a bunch more info it gives me which I'll paste at the bottom*.
I noticed there are two downloads for the multi-touch on Johnny's site. One is "WiiMultipointGrid.zip, and the other is WiiMultipointGrid_calibration.zip. What is the difference between these two downloads?
I'm running Vista Ultimate btw

Dear All,
I hope the connection problem have fixed already, from my experience, as long as the DirectX has installed properly and the wiimote is connected (you may want to use the BlueSoleil to connect), the error message should not appear any more.
I have another doubts about this WiiMultipointGrid.exe program, once the wii IR dots were detected, they will change the status from False to True and I can see different color of points shown on the screen, may I know how can I display the x and y axis on each point on the screen as well.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Cheers, Le Quan
