Hi All,

I have just released a new Smoothboard version with a quick connect feature, SmoothConnect.

Without pressing a button on the software, you are able to learn and connect your Wiimotes.

Just start the Smoothboard software and let the SmoothConnect feature connect to your Wiimote/Wiimotes in the background. The software can be hidden in the system tray just by clicking on the Exit button or by clicking on the system tray icon. Once the Wiimote/s is connected, Smoothboard will be automatically launched.

The number of Wiimote's SmoothConnect searches automatically is depending on Smoothboard's Wiimote setting of One or Two Wiimotes. This configurations can be found under Settings->Wiimotes.

SmoothConnect also allows you to select specific Wiimotes to avoid connecting to by just unchecking the specific Wiimote or by selecting the Wiimote and clicking the Remove Selected button.

Currently, the SmoothConnect feature is only available if you are using the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack. If the Bluetooth stack is not supported, Smoothboard will be launched like previously without the SmoothConnect feature.

The latest version of Smoothboard can be downloaded from here:

Regards,
Boon Jin

I loooooove smoothconnect, top work Boonjin.

I started SB 1.6 and heard my son yelling from the other end of the house, when I came back (2 min later) I found it connected (both wiimotes) and ready to go.

Courtesty of this software the wiimote / smoothboard combination is now the equal of any commercial whiteboard

Look Mum, no hands!

Hi David,

Great to hear that you managed to connect the software while attending to your son. Smiley

If you press the exit button on SmoothConnect, the software will sit silently in the system tray while continuously trying to connect to your Wiimote/Wiimotes.

Can smooth connect also disconnect wii mote Bluetooth conectivity when application is closed?  Users sometime forget to turn off wii mote when they close the application and the batteries drain from Bluetooth connection.

Hi,

For the current version, SmoothConnect only appears at the beginning of the software to assist with the connection process.

It may be possible to turn off the Wiimotes when the software is closed but depending on the demand for this feature. An option will be needed as some users might not want the Wiimotes to be disconnected.

Thank you for your feedback.

Wow - I was helping a teacher set up her Smoothboard and I saw the Smooth connect in action today. Fantastic. When will you have one available for a Broadcom bluetooth?
