I always have issues pairing my wiimotes with my Vista 64 machine using smoothconnect. I had the same issues with Thex's wiimoteconnect.  Eventually the pairings work, sometimes on the first go, sometimes 1 works and I have to restart smoothboard and try to get the second one to work or some other weird combination. 

Is there anything I can do other than get rid of Vista 64 asap?

Hi,

What is the bluetooth adaptor that you are using?

Can you describe when does the pairing fails? Whether SmoothConnect connects it successfully showing the devices as green and whether Windows has installed the device correctly (on the system tray, there is a notification that the device has been installed successfully). And also, when you load into Smoothboard, what is the error message shown when there is an error.

You can also send us a screenshot of your Device Manager found under Control Panel->System

Is your problem limited to the second Wiimote only or randomly between both Wiimotes?

Sometimes removing the Wiimote batteries and reinserting them may help with the pairing.

The problem I'm having occurs with all USB devices - so it's more of a problem with the way my machine handles USB devices than anything else.

I just have to remove the USB device prior to logging in and then plug it back in after loading.  Unfortunately, in the case of bluetooth, that means it's easier to pair my wiimote through the bluetooth wizard after logging in.

I'm working with a couple of vista forums to try and get this USB problem resolved.

Here goes....

I wangted to post my own thread here, so please excuse me if I am intruding on your discussion.
I am a Canadian teacher who spend almost 6 hours trying to get my wiimote board to work. I installed the trial version of smooth board (with hopes of sending money your way soon) Here is how far I got....
I connect my wiimote using beausoleil and it says connected - Great!
I open smoothboard software it opens - Great!
Smooth board can detect my wiimote - Great!
I hit the A button on my wiimote and calibration screen opens - So close
I can't get the green checkmarks to appear - Major downer!

My computer is a Toshiba 32-bit with windows 7. The IR device is a keychain that I switched bulbs. I feel that I am getting so close. I don't want to give up, which is why I am crashing your chat here. Do you have support hotlline I could call from my class? My students don't seem to believe me that I can pull this off....any feedback would be great!

Hi,

The issue may be your IR device made from the keychain. Have you tried using your handphone camera to check whether it is working? The IR light is not be visible with the naked eye but should be visible using the camera's sensors.

If it works, maybe the intensity is too low which may be cause by low battery level, or the specifications of the IR LED is not suitable for the Wiimote.

You can try to activate the IR device pointing directly to the Wiimote and check whether Smoothboard is able to detect the IR Dot.
