Hi,

Smartboard's Notebook software is a collaborative learning software. Smoothboard does not provide the functionality of lessons preparation of the Notebook but Smoothboard should work on most software that uses the mouse and keyboard such as the Notebook software. However, you will have to check on the license of the Notebook software and take note on the usage restrictions.

I don't work for SMART, nor any police station or any government facility that would come after you, but I am about 99% sure that using the notebook software with a different interactive whiteboard is against SMART's EULA.

Promethean has a free personal edition of ActivInspire that allows you to run with other IWB systems, and its pretty feature rich.  ActivInspire also allows you to to import Notebook and Powerpoint.

From the License Agreement

Personally I am rapidly starting to get over ST Notebook software, its layout and drawing tools are appalling, it has little capacity to preserve and reuse formatting styles, and as a presentation tool it is sooo Office 95.

MS Powerpoint and OO Presentations are a heap better in that respect. MS Onenote is a league better for collecting research, lesson materials and other digital paraphernalia and organising them.

Now if only those two packages could integrate flash media natively (yes I know about the developer ribbon, that is NOT natively) I wouldn't even bother having ST Notebook installed on my PC.

ST Notebook is a weak addon to an expensive technology.

Cheers
