Good morning,

I've been testing the combination of Pentabulous with Promethean's software (ActivInspire Personal Edition) http://www.prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.17508.

SMART doesn't seem to have a free legal alternative, unless I'm mistaken.

Regards,

The cool thing is that you can import SMART files and galleries into ActivInspire so this is looking like the option I was wanting: 1. legally free software that lets me annotate, highlight, make charts, and take snapshots
2. Allows me to use the thousands of files created for smartboards and other whiteboards
3. is easy to install and use for teachers and students

will be trying this with my projector and wii tomorrow

I don't think that it would be "legal" to use that smart notebook files that come with a smartboard. Their license says that they can only be used when used in conjunction with a smart board, but if you are using notebooks created by teachers you should be in the clear. We really need to get the word out to teachers to start creating their lessons in non-propriatary software so that we can all share together and build up libraries as big or bigger then smart's libraries.

Power Points 2003 and later has a marker in the bottom left of the slide while a presentation is running and you can save any markup when you close the presentation. Most school, especially major public school districts, provide Microsoft Office to all of their teachers, so using this for lessons would be free to most teachers.

I am talking about the teacher created smart files, mainly those that go with my reading anthologies Smiley I have found a lot of SMARTboard files but mainly use internet sites with my wiiboard and make charts using MassiveBoard. I actually find that the things the students make on their own or with me has been more powerful then the smartboard files.

After playing with activinspire I think this is a great way for teachers to be able to use the many teacher created files but I am liking the internet activities I've found better, especially since my students can use them at home

I would love to see some threads here for teachers to share their favorite sites/files they use with their wii whiteboards.
some of my favorite places are http://www.juliethompson.com/SMART.html
and http://www.topmarks.co.uk/Interactive.aspx

Thanks.

Great site!! but maybe even more important that for us to know about them is for them to know about US. Can anyone see a way to contact the author of this page? We, the Wii Interactive Whiteboard Community, deserve to be mentioned along with these other white board companies. After all we can save them 80% to 90% of their money.
