I have decided to create an interactive whiteboard using the wiimote and an infrared pen for my classroom. The program I'm using to connect the controller to my computer and communicate with my infrared pen is called WiimoteWhiteboard. During the summer I set up everything and it worked perfectly. Now that we're back to school, this is not the case. While searching for the wiimote, the program runs into errors and it seems like they stem from there being a lot of computers in the school transmitting bluetooth signals. I need help, because I know that this is possible, and I know how valuable of a tool it can be in the classroom. Thanks for the help all!

Hi,

As the Bluetooth's range is not very far, interference from devices far away may not be an issue. Do you have many Bluetooth devices in your classroom and neighbouring classrooms?

It would be better if you post the errors found here.

Thanks for the input. I am not a computer programmer by any means, so I must admit to not totally understanding what the errors were saying. I was just taking an educated guess. I'll be in the classroom tomorrow morning and I'll run the program and then copy and paste the error message into this board. Thanks for the help and your time. I greatly appreciate it and I know the kids will be excited to get it working.

Thanks!

This has happened to me a few times.  A simple fix for my mac is to go to system preferences, then to bluetooth, and then uninstall previously installed wii remotes.  You do this by highlighting the installed wii remotes (if any) and then clicking the minus (-) button at the bottom of the listing of installed components.  It will ask you to confirm the deletion and select remove.

Hope this works!

You may also want to make sure you've updated to the most current version of wiimote whiteboard.  It is found at: http://www.uweschmidt.org/wiimote-whiteboard

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I have already tried both things, and it's still not working. If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks,

Hi,

your problem could be caused by the app looking for a second Wiimote in the background, and errors may occur when it finds other devices like cellphones.
For now, you can turn that off by setting the runtime option "org.uweschmidt.wiimote.whiteboard.wiimotes" to "1"; please see the wiki at http://wiki.uweschmidt.org/WiimoteWhiteboard/Preferences.
