Wiimote Project

Hello, I'm new and I'm posting this in the hope that I'll get a fast and dirty education on bluetooth hardware, software and exactly what I'm not doing to get this damn wiimote working on my PC.

First off my dilemma/constraints.

I have a GXT bluetooth dongle.

I checked a website called "wiibrew"

Apparently a GXT class1 dongle -will- work... apparently.

I wouldn't know considering my only option is to use bluesoleil, which was included with the dongle.

Bluesoleil works great until it demands that I provide a pass. Therefore I cannot pair the device with my PC.

I have absolutely, positively NO idea what a stack is, I'm assuming it's some data on the bluetooth adapter?

Beyond that I'm clueless.

Furthermore, when I plug the bluetooth adapter into my usb port, it says "finding device" and then it says it's installed and then absolutely nothing else at all.

No "bluetooth places" no icon in the control panel, no icon on the taskbar. Nothing.

I do not have internet access for the machine intended for it's use.

Are there drivers I can download and then transfer to the intended PC for use with the BT dongle?



I thought with bluesoleil this was going to be a simple task, it's turning out to be very frustrating.


Anyhow, any help I can get on this would be greatly appreciated.


and yes... I've perused the forum and I know there are dilemmas similar to mine, however I believe there are some extenuating circumstances which make my situation unique enough to merit another thread.

My stack version is: 0.6.05.8520070815

Unfortunately I run into some difficulties when using the bluesoleil tutorial.

It doesn't offer any option to install software of any sort.

I have gotten bluesoleil to "detect" the device, but I cannot pair it, if that gives any indication about what's going on.

Followed the instructions.

I uninstalled the device, and then plugged it in after modifying the bth.inf file.

It says it had found a device and that the device was ready to use, however...

However this: "there should now be an icon in the control panel for Bluetooth configuration."

Did not happen.


So... am I screwed?

What am I doing wrong?

Go to 'control panel' you'll find a 'configure bluetooth' or 'Bluetooth Devices' icon. double click and go to the 'options' tab then check 'show icon in system tray' and your away (use the Microsoft bluetooth stack instructions I gave you above). You can also use Thex's fabulous 'Wiimote Connect' utility.

I just mentioned that no such icon exists in my control panel in spite of doing everything specified in the instructions.

Hence the reason I'm asking if there's something wrong.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure something's wrong, and it's probably got to do with the fact that the computer I'm attempting to install the BT dongle on, cannot access the internet.

Okay, well. I managed to get things working on my laptop.

however not my gaming pc.

I'm starting to think that the internet is making the difference here.

So, I guess my next logical question is:

Does anyone know how I can get the drivers for my gaming pc without it accessing directly?

I know it's probably possible, but I have NO idea what or where to look.

Also, as an aside.

My laptop is kind of crappy and slow, and I've noticed that the wiimote is kind of laggy and gets "stuck" when I use the glovepie IR mouse script.

Is this a common thing or is it because my laptop is crappy?
