Well.  I completely did that whole Widcomm thing, with the patches and everything.  It didn't recognize my adapter.  I think I'm just gonna give up for now. 

It hasn't been working too well.  Thanks for your posts, though.

OH! I almost forgot...
I took a screenshot of the HID devices in my laptop, which doesn't work with the Wii, and my desktop, which does.
  -> Laptop.
  -> Desktop.

The Laptop is as it should be with several HID devices (they represent mouses, keyboards, webcams etc).

Can you expand the "Bluetooth Devices" & "Bluetooth USB" & "Mouse & other Devices" then post your screen dumps.

Thanks again, for all your help. 


Note that the 'Bluetooth Devices' section only came once I installed that Widcomm thingy and it's patch.  Before that, it was just the 'Bluetooth USB' section.

Simple problem!
Your laptop has an internal bluetooth!
You simply have a conflict between the two. Remove your USB and its software, then go to control pannel and make sure your internal bluetooth is switched on. You may need to reload the drivers/software as may be corrupt from the conflict.

Let me know how you go.

Ben, you're awesome.  I told you I switched my laptop over to XP, from Vista, and I had a terrible time trying to find all of the drivers.  One of them I never got working was the bluetooth, so I just assumed that the device wasn't at all recognized by my computer.  I found the driver from some Acer FTP site, but the driver for blutooth was corrupted, so I could never install it from there.  I never thought it would interfere with my bluetooth USB device. 

How did you know that just from those screenshots?

Thanks, I just need to get the internal one working...  That might take a while.

Apparently, the bluetooth silkscreened icon, LED, and switch on the front of the computer are completely useless, and it has no internal bluetooth.  The fact that the bluetooth driver from the European site (the only part of the Acer site that has XP drivers, http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/ex_4420.html ),  is corrupted doesn't help, either.

Another triple post...  Anyway, I've got the drivers, but it seems like it's an installer for Widcomm, and a driver folder with a bunch of .inf's and stuff, which is great, but it doesn't seem like the device is being recognized by my computer, so they're useless.  How did you know that my computer had internal bluetooth, just from the device manager?

The "Bluetooth Emunerator" is specific to internal Bluetooth stacks.

Nothing will work until Bluesoleil is completely removed, use control panel add/remove then make sure all files in c:/www.program files/"bluesoleil foldername" are deleted. Run ccleaner registry cleaner.

What you MAYBE looking for is someting along the lines of "Acer Integrated Module with bluetooth wireless blah blah blah".

If you go to Acers site and plug in your laptop model it should you should be able to find all the current drivers for your laptop. I suggest you load all drives (only specific to you laptop model) that related to networking/wireless or bluetooth. Once you have loaded all and rebooted you machine you may need to turn your bluetooth on/off once or twice to get your hardware found. It will then take a while for it to load all the dif drivers etc and you should be away.

Otherwise most laptop companies have online support. If the above doesn't work hope online and they will guide you througha  solution.

Yeah, sorry I couldn't respond earlier.  I've been away from a computer for a long time. 

I can't get the driver to work on this laptop.  I've tried, once again, to get it working.  It's just not recognizing that the device even exists.  Bluetooth doesn't even turn on and off on the laptop until the driver is working.  What's weird is that when Vista was installed, with all of the drivers pre-installed, the external Bluetooth adapter worked fine.

I suggest you go to Acer website and see if you can find a list of drivers for your computer model?

I just went to http://www.acer.com.au selected acersupport/drivers & downloads picked a random notebook and found all the drivers you will need?

I suggest you format your drive, reload windows XP and then load all available XP drivers for your model. You may find you are missing a number of hardware drivers and don't realise it.

Or contact Acer as there should be a disc with all drivers?

I have the drivers!  The only place to get the Acer XP drivers, though, is from their European site.  I just can't get that one to work.

You definately have internal bluetooth as the emunerator can't exist without hardware.

You can't get the site to work, the drivers to work or the drivers to download from the site?

Can you find your model computer at the .au site as all seams there?


The top three highlights I want you to connect to the internet (away from work or structured firewalls) right click each and select update driver.

Then try connecting.
