Hi,
I've completed all the steps discussed in the August 25, 2008 topic:
SOLVED - connected but can't use any app??? started by Haruya and so kindly replied to by nenpaddlejones

My Bluetooth Places does not show the Nintendo RVL-CNT-01 device unless I click on "Search for devices in range" but when I do and double click on this device it shows it as "connected".  When I start the Smoothboard software,  I get the dreaded Winmote not found error, specifically, No Winmotes found in HID device list.  I've attached the general properties and the driver detail properties for each of these three HIDs, labeled HID1, HID2, and HID3.  My windows version is XP Home Edition Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236: Service PAck 3).  Also are screendumps of My Bluetooth Places.  Any help greatly appreciated.

regards,
dwebman

try first:
1. Go to add/remove programs remove the Widdcomm stack
2. Goto c:\windows\inf\
3. Find any file names bth.*
4. Change the file name to add an 'x' on the extension (i.e bth.ini to bth.inix)
5. Reboot
6. Reinstall Widcomm (disc that came with Dlink DBT122)
7. Reboot
8. Connect like this: http://www.boonjin.com/smoothboard/index.php?title=Connecting_the_Wiimote_to_a_Widcomm_Bluetooth_stack

If that doesn't work try this:

1. Goto device manager
2. Delete your Bluetooth devices
3. Delete your HID bluetooth devices
4. Undo steps 2-4 pof above (i.e bth.inix to bth.ini)
5. Got to add/remove programs
6. Remove widcomm stack Dlink Bluetooth something or other from memory
7. Follow this: http://www.shootingsoftware.com/Widcomm.htm
8. Reboot
9. Connect like this: http://boonjin.com/smoothboard/index.php?title=Connecting_the_Wiimote_to_a_XP/Vista/Mac_Bootcamp_Microsoft_Bluetooth_stack

FYI my desktop until 5 days ago was a DBT-122 with the widcomm stack. To test the Microsoft hack I tried the above, worked perfectly.

Thank you for your time and effort.  The Microsoft hack worked and Smoothboard now sees the wii remote.  Tomorrow I'll get into calibration and the whiteboard.

I want to commend you for your generous contribution to this project and the enthusiasts, like me, who need help.  The "open source" community on the web represents men and women at their best in much welcomed relief to the rogues we are hearing so much about during the collapse of the US financial system.

I'm old enough to be your grandfather - and see in young people like you great hope for the future.  Thank you once again.

Thanks for the nod!

All I want is access to interactive technology for all, not just the financially enabled. And if we can make the cheap stuff better than the expensive thats just more entertainment! Perhaps if some of the $$$ commercial IWB companies spent less time ripping education institutions off and more time developing their products then theirs would be as good! hehe
