I definitely agree with Neils. Although many teachers are not tech savvy, the results vs. cost will be well worth it in the classroom. In fact, I have colleagues that have tried other infrared interactive whiteboard products that cost significantly more and they perform poorly compared to a correctly setup wiimote whiteboard. The quality of performance cannot be closely compared with any other technology in the vicinity of the same price range.
In my district, I have had several non tech savvy teachers setup smoothboard and the wiimote whiteboard without issue. From what I've seen, Boon Jin offers excellent support (actually above and beyond support) and seems willing to help anyone who asks. Many times the fix is something simple (defective bluetooth, etc.). Usually, once a connection is made, the process is very stable (at least in my experience).
I use my wiimote whiteboard everyday and would encourage anyone to do the same. Classifying this low cost technology as an option that won't work for teachers is not true in my opinion. I would encourage tominne to not give up! Once you see what it can do in the classroom, my guess is that your opinion will change.
Good luck!
