Author Topic: No option to skip passcode in Windows XP--HELP  (Read 7806 times)

I'm running Windows XP service pack 3.  I've updated .NET frameworks, Direct X, and Bluetooth drivers in an attempt to get past the passcode screen while connecting my wiimote, but I've had no luck.
I'm using a supported Rocketfish micro-USB Bluetooth adapter.  It sees the Wiimote, I click to add it, and it takes me to a passcode screen with only one option--to put in the passcode which I don't have.  There is no option to skip it. I have successfully connected the same wiimote and Bluetooth on a Vista computer, but my laptop isn't cooperating.  Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sounds like you may have Widdcom v5, you need to down grade to v4 or remove and install Windows stack. All instructions are in the help guides.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I uninstalled all drivers (the ones that came with my Rocketfish adapter, and whatever else I installed while trying to get it working). Windows took the lead on installing drivers and it worked like a charm.  I'm excited to give this a try in the classroom! Now only if I could get the internet on my laptop while at school... hmmmm

Here is the closest to a guide I can give you:

1. Locate a v4 installation package compatatble with your BT radio (tricky if an internal Laptop BT radio).
2. Do a system backup
3. Find BT source files and back them up (remember orginal file paths too)
4. Turn of BT (usually a button or a function+key combo)
5. Add/Remove Apps: Find the Bluetooth file (may not be called Widcomm)
6. Install new BT stack
7. Restart comp
8. Turn BT on/off a few time until recognised

If this all fails, reinstate files and do a system restore. Unfortunately not a lot of documentation on this.
