Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium
Bluetooth: http://cgi.ebay.com/100M-2-4G-PC-XP-USB-2-0-EDR-BLUETOOTH-V2-DONGLE-ADAPTER_W0QQitemZ390019890560QQihZ026QQcategoryZ44999QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I downloaded smoothboard, installed my bluetooth adaptor, plugged it in and it installed itself just fine. I added the wiimote to it just fine. Everything perfect. Went under properties> services and clicked on the Drivers for keyboard, mice HID. It installed a new driver, Bluetooth HID Device, from Microsoft.
Click on smoothboard to start it and i keep getting errors. Sometimes its "No Wiimores found in HID device list" and something the program crashes...
I downloaded the main WiimoteWhiteboard program and that one also gives me an error: "No available Wiimote found, check bluetooth connection"... sometimes, that one also crashes...
i dont know why all this is happening... can someone help please...

Try grabbing a copy of GlovePIE and see if you can connect the wiimote with that by running the wiimotetest script. This isn't necessarily a fix to your problem, but it would help see if the problem is the connection of the programs.
-
I downloaded it and ran test.PIE under WiimoteScripts and nothing happens...??? I really dont know how to use Glovepie... so..

Restart your system, folow this guide to connect: http://boonjin.com/smoothboard/index.php?title=Connecting_the_Wiimote_to_a_XP/Vista/Mac_Bootcamp_Microsoft_Bluetooth_stack
If you still get an error try these: http://boonjin.com/smoothboard/index.php?title=What_does_%27exception:_No_Wiimotes_found_in_the_HID_device_list%27_mean%3F

Sounds like you have a conflicting BT stack.
Read: http://www.wiimoteproject.com/bluetooth-and-connectivity-help-center/bt-problems-a-self-help-guide-**-please-read-before-posting-problem**/
If after trying everything you fell skilled enough to try then post the required information under dot point 5 (in purple) so we can provide you with more support.

* Operating System: Vista
* Bluetooth Stack: Microsoft
* Bluetooth Stack version: 6.0.6001.18000
* Connection Method using: USB
I did that and my phone was able to send a track to my computer so its not the bluetooth dongle.

2. Turn off all filters & protection applications esp any registry monitors
3. Restart comp

I keep getting an error.. "Error reading data from wiimote... is it connected?"
Just to note, when i remove those drivers, when i uninstall them... my keyboard and mouse does not work. Had to press it power button for the computer to shut down itself automatically...

All plug & play, so will reinstaled on reboot.
Have you loaded any other BT stacks?
I'm also wondering if the conflict is from your special keyboard? Do you have a normal usb/seriel mose/keyboard you can use to test?
Try unistalling everything inc BT use normal keyboard then reinsert BT USB
Also try Thex's Wiimoteconnection not in learn mode see what happens.

what is this: Thex's Wiimoteconnection not in learn mode
I dont have any other keyboard to use :( Just this. Came from HP.. Its the wireless inf.red keyboard.
I dont have any other BT stacks installed. I plugged in the bluetooth usb radio and it installed what i have... then went on to continue but it didnt work... for some reason when it should work they keep crashing :(
-
Try this: http://www.wiimoteproject.com/bluetooth-and-connectivity-knowledge-center/wiimoteconnect-0-6-(support-for-autoconnect)/

It connected perfectly, but when i start the program it crashes...
WiimoteWhiteboard gives n error and crashes... i get "Error reading data from wiimote... is it connected?"
-
I got a usb mouse and uninstalled all those drivers to test it out and it still does the same thing :( I dont know what else to do.... What could be causing this?
It seems as if when its suppose to work, the programs crash for some reason. I dont have anything blocking them except for the normal avast anti-virus. I even paused it to test it out and still does the same thing.
-
olajideolaolorun
Stop avast, uninstall drivers and reinstall.
Have you tried Thex Wiimote Connect?
If thios doesn't work we'll have to do some further digging. You have aconflicting driver somewhere in your system that needs to be stopped.

-
Thats what i did. I stop avast, removed the drivers and used the Wiimote connect to connect. It connected, but when i start the programs, Smoothboard and WiimoteWhiteboard, they crash and give me that error.
-
So there is no hope for me?

So there is no hope for me?
Have you removed your other bluetooth devices (mouse and keyboard)?
Like what Ben has mentioned, most probably it is due to the conflicting devices. Have you tried to remove your Bluetooth device itself.
Have you tested your Wiimote?

Boon Jin

Yes. I removed all the HID devices and switched to a wired usb mouse... Tested it out and it didnt work. I even restarted and redid this a couple more times. I also removed the bluetooth radio and tried it elsewhere, same thing...
For some reason, the program keeps crashing when its suppose to work???
What do you test my wiimote? With a Wii?

You can try to test the Wiimote on another computer or an actual wii.
I suggest you to remove the Bluetooh drivers. Not only the Bluetooth devices but the Bluetooth stack.
Although it says it is connected, in this case, the software is still unable to access the Wii Remotes data.

I'm having the same problem but I have more data on why it happens.
I succesfully connected the wiimote to my dell laptop (windows vista and Visual studio 2008).
If I run the test application that comes with the wiimotelib, everything works fine.
But, when I run (debug or release) the multigridpoint project I also get the error of "Cannot read from Wiimote - is it connected".
I tried to write my own allication that use the wiimote library and found out what seems to be the problem.
If I just put a windows form, call the connect method and on the event handler of the wiimote object state change method I try to set a text of a control on the form I get an error about "possible synch problem between threads".
In order to solve it, I added a delegate object and from the event handler called the delagee.
When ever the project has the followin gline, you get the "cannot read from wiimote" error. when I comment this line, everything works fine:
delegate void SetTextCallback(string x, string y);
I have no idea how to solve this...
-
I have tried everything to no dismay. It doesnt work for some reason. I feel as though when it's suppose to work, the programs crash for some unknown reason.

Where did you get your wiimote? I wounder if it is stuffed?
Do you know someone with a Wii console I would test the Wiimote or I would borrow a working Wiimote and see if that fixes your problems.
It is definately strange that it doesn't work in some many settings. Hence the common is your Wiimote. But before you run out and buy one I would try & borrow first.
I know a few ebay sellers are selling busted Wiimotes (I have one myself).

I tried the whole thing on my friends computer and it worked perfectly. But it doesnt on mine. So i know the wiimote works.
-

Sadly the consitent fault is your computer.
Try this: http://www.telusplanet.net/public/wladykad/
This will take Windows BT out of the picture.

I have the Microsoft Stack, it works perfectly. I tried sending a song from my phone to my PC and it worked so its definitely not the Stack or the Dongle, nor the Wii Remote.

You phone connects under a different driver. The HID is a much more common driver (loaded with any keyboard, mouse, tablet, etc). Your problem is a HID drive conflict, the one loading is not correct, your computer thinks it is but its not hence the problem you are having.
By loading Widcomm you will hopefully override your microsoft HID. Or try the Bluesoleil trial if it works then less hacking involved.
Your other option is to rebuild you HDD starting with a new HID driver.
