I've been finding that my ir pen works fine when I start up, but after some 10 minutes it will only give a row of dots when writing - although it will still do mouse clicks etc without any problems.  I'm using XP SP3, Bluesoleil BT, a selection of Boonjin Whiteboard versions and a variety of IR pens.  I've a suspicion that there's either a Bluetooth issue here, or that my laptop isn't up to the job:  if I disconnect the wii and re-connect it, it works fine for another 10 minutes, so it's not a battery issue with the pen.  I never have problems connecting the wii with Bluesoleil.  Haven't tried a more recent laptop yet. Any ideas out there?

I've had problems with this as well. I think for me it was that the IR pen wasn't bright enough, and replacing the batteries helped. But you using a variety of IR pens seems like it would weed out that as a possibility.

Which IR-Led & Battery are you using. This is an IR-Pen problem, either low quality IR-led, low quality battery or both.

Possibly the battery is just being drained too quick. enough juice for a click (short flash) but not enough for a drag (long flash).

Thanks, I'll try the batteries first - I won't cast doubts on the quality of anyone's commercial IR pens in this forum!

If they have given you a Vishay TSAL6400 then you can quickly rule out the IR-Led as the cause, unless it is defective? But thats not the IR-Pen manufacturers fault.

Nearly all the sellers use this IR-Led so its not that.
