I have a Belkin Bluetooth 2.1 dongle that requires WIDCOMM 5.5 software (5.1 does not support it) under Windwos XP.

The problem is that in version 5.5 you can't skip the passkey entry when connecting a device, and since the Wiimote has no passkey, it can't be connected.

Does anyone know if there's a workaround for this?

Use: http://www.wiimoteproject.com/wiimote-and-bluetooth-connectivity/success!-non-bluesolei-stack!/ hold buttons 1&2 during whole connection process until just before you execute the application.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately in WIDCOMM 5.5 the skip button isn't just greyed out, it isn't there at all! (I'm sure there are lots of HID devices that don't have passkeys, so it seems a bit weird to me)

Can you describe the process (inc screen shots if poss) of how you get there.

Can you also include a screen shot of your device manager, with HID list expanded.

The picture pretty much says it all.

All of "My Device", "Find Bluetooth Devices", and "Add a Bluetooth Device" lead to the same place.

The final shot of the pairing failed is after I've put something in for the passkey (which then allows me to press next).

Look in the 'Bluetooth' pull down menu see if there is an option of "Bluetooth Connection Wizard".

It is purely a problem of the connection process, if the above fails can you give me screen shots of the 'Bluetooth' & 'View' pull down menus.

There's nothing specifically called a connection wizard (everything leads to that same wizard I showed before).

The View menu is just your standard Explorer options menu, and the Bluetooth menu replicates the same functionality as the icons (with the exception of configuration). Trying to anticipate your next request, I've included shots of all the config tabs too :)

The problem is certainly a security issue with Widdcomm 5.5. I can see no way of circumventing it. All I have left is:
a) Check the manufacturers website see if a older driver exists or a similar USB key with an older driver, try it, it may work.

b) try http://www.bluesoleil.com the demo version is free and will allow you to test Wiimote App's before deciding to buy.

c) try http://www.wiimoteproject.com/wiimote-and-bluetooth-connectivity/finally-a-fix-for-bluesoleil-usb-bluetooth-stop-bluesoleil-crashing-your-comp!/ it should allow you to install an older version of Widdcomm.

Otherwise your only solution that I can see is to change to a different USB device.
