Greetings

I recently bought the Targus USB Ultra-Mini Bluetooth 2.0 Adaptor which comes with the Broadcom/Widdcomm drivers.

After reading a few tutorials where people recommended using bluesoleil I tried that, but eventually learned that my particular USB was not supported by their program. I uninstalled bluesoleil and installed my hardware's drivers which does show a connection to the WiiMote. I was also able to get WiiMoteConnect to connect to the device without any issues.

My problems lies in that with trying Smoothboard, the wiimote gives errors of not being able to connect, while in GlovePie, it shows no connect at all.

I used WiimotLib to test the connection and it does show a connection to the bottom 4 LED's and the rumblepad. After reading on these forums that this problem lies in a one way connection issue due to possible conflicting drivers, I tried uninstalling the microsoft stack (first disabling it in the device manager), but this only causes the wiimote to be able to hold its connection as well as WiiMoteConnect to not be able to find the connection at all.

Am I doing something wrong?

benpaddlejones, I read where you wrote this in another thread, do you think I am having a similar issue?

This is increasingly difficult. I bought a new laptop last night vista with the latest Widcomm. I actually connected a Wiimote and ran smoothboard before I bought the comp.

The newer version of Widcomm does not use winsock (its just Microsft BT repackaged).

Java whiteboard to run in Windows needs the older Widcomm. You should be able to get it with the DLINK DBT-122 still but I'm not sure if it will load into Vista?

I uninstalled everything using the directions Here: http://www.dev-toast.com/2007/01/05/uncrippling-bluetooth-in-vista-rtm/

Problem is when I get to the patcher part at the bottom, even though I have set it up 100% as he mentions, my device does not show up.

Well, I uninstalled Widcomm 5, what drivers should I install instead to get my Targus USB Ultra-Mini Bluetooth 2.0 to work? Thank You.

Quick Note: If the Targus BT does not work , I did read some reviews on the BT Dongle which one of my local shops carries.

IOgear GBU421

http://www.iogear.com/product/GBU421

Which on this review, someone mentions it works in Vista 32-Bit.

Ben,

I am still having a problem with the Targus, so one of my friends lent me a Kensington in which I tried Bluesoiel and it did not work, but when I look through the v5 Widdcomm drivers, I see the Hardware ID. Where can I get new Widdcomm drivers that will work with the wiimote?

Widcomm 5 is a killer, don't waste your time.

Ben,

I do make sure to fully uninstall one before installing another. I just need to know what stacks should work and where to find them?

strange, http://www.shootingsoftware.com/Widcomm.htm should work with all. Can you try again and make sure your syntax is 100%, it only takes I instead of a 1 and it won't work.

I think I am going to give up..... I tried it with the link you sent me and I can find the device and when i select it to install the drivers, it tell me it found the device, but an error occurred.

Also, A friend lent me his Kensington USB device and I can get it connected to Bluesoiel, but it does not connect as a HID, but as a joystick. So, I can can not get this one either......

A joy stick is a HID, when I was using bluesoleil, connected as a joystick and worked fine. Try that again and tell me what happened on conection.

Make sure you read teh connection guides and follow the little tricks: http://www.boonjin.com/smoothboard/index.php?title=Connect_the_Wiimote

Ben

It will not let me do Steps 4 and 5 here:

http://www.boonjin.com/smoothboard/index.php?title=Connecting_the_Wiimote_to_a_Bluesoleil_Bluetooth_stack

Also, it does not show up as a Wii mote, but as a regular joystick.

In the Alternative Solution section, the problem lies in that it does not give me the "no password" choice when trying to pair up.

Ben,

After a bit of tampering I was able to get it connected with no problems. Last thing, I can not get the wiimote to control the mouse pointer. I am missing a IR bar, is that the problem?
