alright so i was playing around and i finaly got my wii remot and ir pen to work togeather properly... what i have found out is that the ir i have needs to be pointed prity much right at the wii mote at all times or it loses signal and stops functioning till i get it back in the right direction.

so what i am gathering from this comes from my last topic and that is the 950nm wave langth compaired to the 940nm on the one i have been suggested to get.

if i am right on my point can some one pleas let me know.

now my set up is pritty stright forward. the wii mote is directly above my projector 4 feet off the ground. the distance is about 13 feet away and the usage space i have is 51 % of the wii mote view able aria. as per smoothboard.

so from what i can tell the aplication for what i am wanting to do this will work out well... though i will need two wii motes to do it. the other way is using two ps3 eye's to make the multy tuch board that i am planing on making.

thanks in advance for any info

Hi,

The issue is still depending on the 940nm IR LED that you may obtain as different specification of the LED may lead to varying results. Also, like I have mentioned before, non-genuine Wiimotes may also cause the same issue.

It seems that you are placing the Wiimote quite far away from the screen. The further away the Wiimote is away from the screen, the lower the detected intensity of the IR source by the Wiimote. In addition, when the IR is reflected off the screen, the power will diminish significantly and thus you need to face the IR directly towards the Wiimote.

For your case, you will need to place the Wiimote as close as possible to the screen as your screen seems to be quite big. If you are having a fixed setup, you may want to slowly adjust the Wiimote till you have above 80% tracking utilization. This is of course unnecessary if the tracking was already working well.

i have actualy moded the pen to have the ir in the back of the pen so that way it eleminates the issues of reflection. since right now i am using a wall that is matt in finish or low gloss.

if i am thinking right i would only have to move the wii mote up a couple feet inorder to get the higher res. as well as it is an origenal comming from the origenla packageing.  the other course is i may need to try two wii motes and see what happens there.

and i am localy tracking down one of the ir leds that you guys suggest since it seams to be working for all of you.

Hi,

For convenience, you can just purchase the IR LEDs from the online sellers. Our resellers do have the IR LEDs in stock http://www.smoothboard.net/resellers

If you are using the IR at the back of the pen, the low intensity issue may be solved but the control of the cursor may not be accurate.

it is actualy quite acurit the only issues is that if the pen still isnt pointed at the wii mote that the line goes off in la la land.  but that is only an issue if you are using a drawing app.

but for my next thing i am going to build this will not present its self as an issue.
