Hello, I was wondering if anyone had heard of a program for the wii that can recognize shapes drawn in the air and convert them to a keypress or opening an .exe

For example, if I draw a W in the air with an IR pen, word would open.

I have tried with GlovePIE but with no arrays, I can't make much in the way of a functional program.

I am starting from some tiny amount of programming knowledge to get Micrsoft Visual C++ Express set up with the wiiuse library, but am running into problems adding the library correctly.

Before I spent more time on this, I thought I would ask if anyone has done this before. I found several close mouse recognition programs and a gestures(accel/roll) recognizing wiimote program, but no shape. Thanks for any help you can give.

are you talking about mouse gestures?

I think you may be on to something here, seems like a very cool way to do some things :)

might want to take a look at this site http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/

I will keep looking.

Great links! I will be trying StrokeIt and Mojo when I get home today.

My final idea is to have a third/forth wiimote at 90deg (straight down) to the first two (which are controling the mouse, ala Smoothboard) so the third/forth wiimote could reconize gestures for programs/Graffiti inputs.

First though, I will be trying a simple GlovePIE script to controll mouse clicks with one IR point detected and control a right click motion when two points are connected. And finally with three IR points switch to middle mouse.

End result for the first phase should be a pointer finger for left mouse clicks, two figures would be a right click/open programs, three figures will be acess to Graffiti.

In each case the "mouse" would still be focused at the pointer finger.
