How about this idea.  Use a wiimote to paint a real location.  For example, (harmlessly) scribble all over a forest, park, back yard, etc.

* LCD projector (hopefully a good, bright, high-res one)
* Wiimote (of course)
* Laptop
* Art progam of your choice Hint: I think artrage would be a fun choice (free demo version would even be great)
* A wiimote->system cursor driver. (glove PIE?)  May need a little coding/calibration help to get this working.

* Wait for nightfall so you can see what's going on. (The darker the better!)
* Crank the wiimote up as you normally would.
* Place your projector far enough away from your target area that it covers the whole thing.
* Somehow calibrate your wiimote (Like I say, I haven't quite worked this part out yet)
* Load up the art program and set the background to BLACK (aka, no light projected)
* Now you should be able to run around and scribble on any surface facing the projector and have lines show up realtime.
* Put candy cane stripes on trees, give restroom doors (immature) new labels, draw a chaulk outline of yourself on the ground... in short, HAVE FUN!

What do you think?  Also, any ideas on how the driver should be set up?

It sure sounds like a cool idea - but i think the distance might be a problem here...

how far can you go and still have the IR detected by Wiimote?

Already tried it   :D

The Wiimote just isn't good over distance.  I'm talking 30 metres.  Would be better with a highly reflective white buiding...

Should mention - I'm using a 30mw green laser.

Have you had a look at the other options - using a video camera instead?  Have a look for LaserTag if you've not already tried it.

The problem with this LasrerTag is the flaky tracking and lack of good brush effects.  You could make your own I suppose...

The benefit of using the Wiimote is the multitracking and the ability to control ANY software package.

Balam - forget the WII - build a TAGTOOL  :D

Now - if you could attach a better camera to the Wiimote  8)

Tag tools are one of my options too.
but calls for a audrino osc. processesing programing and a buch of money on few analog electronics supplys.
I want to sick to the wii because of price and the re-tech-cicle.
menas less use of resources or better use of them.

I have the Ltag.
works like a dream.
problem is that you need a decent laptop with an nvidia video card.
in basic I want to make the analog side of the graphity project.
I also re-compile the source code of the ltag  and make more light and remove the player.
I will share it you want it.   ( mac only app)
