Project Ideas / Re: Lighting Desk Software
« on: February 08, 2008, 06:53:46 PM »
I can't, but I have a friend that can. I was just mentioning it really, if it works then I will be posting videos/asking questions but at the moment I cant even make the remote work. The idea is to be able to 'throw' lights around the stage and to switch lights by pointing and so on.

Project Ideas / Lighting Desk Software
« on: February 07, 2008, 12:01:12 PM »
I was watching the robot arm video on youtube thinking how cool that would be to be able to do something like that, but I didnt have a large robot arm. I do have something similar though...

The lighting for a student union nightclub, in particular we have lights made by Clay Packy called Golden Scans. Dont worry so much about the particulars of the lighting side, I know enough, heres what is relevent:

These lights are controlled by DMX which transmits channels with different levels, I have a usb to DMX converter, so one of the things is to find out how to transmit the Signal,

The other thing is how to use the interface between the inputs in the wii remote and the software. For example the lights to be 'thrown' around by the motion of the wii mote and the buttons to have effects  like strobe and colour change.

Some how, if i can get to a point where the software takes the inputs and converts them to virtual sliders relating to the different inputs.

Let me know what you think.

Silent

Edit: I think that using the trigger button on the remote's sholder to free up a channel/input/thing at a time, ie it would be annoying to have all the lights move when it gets put down or something. The D-pad could move between lights or change functions.
