I Was Thinking that it would be a good idea to map keyboard controls for White board like "right mouse click" could be space bar for people that use white board for home use on there computers. the keyboard mapping could be a background app that starts with your programs filename.exe so you could have different controls for drawing and games.

Wiimote Desktop VR/Head Tracking / Mocap boxing

Anybody remember this arcade game from Konami?  Looks like the technology is available now to bring this hit-title home (pun intended! Tongue).

Other games like this could be released as well like that cop game that had multiple sequels or that Samurai game which I've only seen at amusement park arcades - Blade of Hono

Wiimote Desktop VR/Head Tracking / Head tracking with CyMouse?
« on: March 03, 2015, 05:04:51 AM »
Hi there,

The effect of head tracking in that video looked so incredible, I dare to ask a non-Wiimote question: shouldn't you be able to do the same thing on a PC with a CyMouse (seen on sale
for $60)? This device supposedly tracks the xyz position of a detector on your forehead. I bet the changing point of view would be very easy to implement in any 3D graphics for an experienced programmer. Stereo shutter glasses also exists for PCs for less than $100, so your DARPA-quality Virtual Reality should be pretty straightforward to obtain. The CyMouse webpage hasn't been updated since 2004, but you can still buy it, and I suppose it works.

IR Pens / Possibly very cool IR pen?
« on: March 03, 2015, 04:52:57 AM »

Hey everybody,

I've been using the following optical mouse in the shape of a pen for a few years:

When the tip (or the "cradle")of this pen touches the underground it lights up red like any other optical mouse. Now, I have no idea how optical mouses work, but if this thing emits infrared light then couldn't it be used to communicate with the Wii-Mote? This would be really cool since you don't have to push any button to draw on the whiteboard. Does anybody know if the red light of optical mouses are infrared lights?
I can't test this myself right now, unfortunately, because I am traveling and I left my pen mouse at home.

IR Pens / IR Thermometer

I'm just wondering if one of those IR thermometers would work? Is it made the same way or does it function the same way? If so could this be used instead?

General Discussion / Boom Blox. Keeping up with the times.

Holy Wow. That was quick. It's nice to see this is getting grabbed up so quick. I think that if this game pulls it off right, it'll lead to companies taking the technology seriously. If this game succeeds, and the tech gets attention, I'd be willing to bet money on it being featured in first-party games to come, as well as a selling point of Wii 2. Who else is excited?

General Discussion / IR Camera Distortion
« on: February 27, 2015, 11:41:56 AM »

Does the camera return normalized undistorted IR dot positions ?
I would assume it doesn't and just return raw ccd processing results.
Did you hear of anybody who tried to compute the typical OpenCV calibration file for the wiimote camera ?

(You need a disto calibration file if you really want to get accurate position estimation)

General Hardware Talk / Nyko Wireless Nunchuk
« on: February 27, 2015, 11:27:15 AM »

This is info from my experience, I can't pair the wiimote with the nunchuk in my home, the blue light in the wiimote dongle won't blink, but when at the store, it is instantly paired, may be because I don't have Wii console, so I guess there must be some connection established first between Wii and dongle, just my observation though.

General Hardware Talk / Wiimote VID
« on: February 27, 2015, 11:25:33 AM »

I had always thought that wiimote has one and only one vid 0x057e,but today I found out a wiimote with vid 0x0001.
I connect a wiimote via BlueSoleil on PC and I check the device manger. Since a new "Bluetooth HID Device" item has been added under "Humen Interface Devices", the item shows vid_0001 in detail property.

Is it an exceptional case or a normal one?
if wiimote has different vids, how could I identify it from other hid device or joystick?

Anyone could help me? I appreciate.
