Title: Supplies for Fixing and/or Replacements
Post by: phillid on January 10, 2010, 07:13:06 PM
Here goes;

I made a Wiimote Whiteboard for my Intermediate School and knowing how clumsy and foolish the teacher who is using it is, I will probably need somewhere to get pens and other such things that he is likely to break. Some things i will be able to fix by myself, but there is still the fat chance that he'll completely ruin the pen or something like that. Here in New Zealand we have Dick Smith Electronics who mainly sell appliances but also sell a few simple electronic parts. We've also got Jaycar Electronics who are basically a radio shack. They stock a much wider range. My gear for the Whiteboard is custom except the wiimote.
Does anyone know where to get pre-made IR pens which put out a simple constant beam when the button is pushed?

Thanks for any replies

Hi there Phillid,

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you are pretty confident with what you're doing, but have a look at the For Sale section of the site for options in buying pens, etc. There is plenty of choice.
As far as I know 3P Interact are the only NZ based  specialists in this adventure.
We are happy to help with advice if you need it. Which part of NZ are you in?

As Davo said you can find a list of sellers here: http://www.wiimoteproject.com/ir-pens-b36/ all post internationally and all like 3P have a repution of quality product and support here so you have security in your purchase.

If you want to make yourself you can buy Vishay TSAL6400 from Farnell who have an agent in NZ a list of IR-Led sellers can be found here: http://www.wiimoteproject.com/for-sale/vishay-ir-led%27s/

Davo,

Hey. Thanks for the help. 3P Interact look like my best option. They have cheap delivery and their stuff is made in New Zealand which means good quality and durability.
Do your pens run on AA or AAA batteries? Is it one or two? Do they include any batteries?

PS. I am in Upper Hutt, Wellington

Thanks
