Title: Smoothboard Mouse Issue
Post by: trulybent on November 21, 2011, 04:39:04 PM
Oy!

Just getting started. I've made it through the "difficult" parts of finding an "approved" Bluetooth adapter (Asus USB-BT211) and getting my (hot pink!) Wiimote connected. I'm still using the MS stack running on Vista, which seems to be responding well so far. Note that i haven't gotten as far as using an IR pen and defining a whiteboard area as yet. I wanted to see which software packages would recognize the Wiimote.

I downloaded a few of the free programs to test and have a look at - iWiiboard, Pentabulous, and Smoothboard. Of the 3, i think i would spend my money on Smoothboard, for its functionality and the fact that it will allow 2 wiimotes connected simultaneously. They all connect to the Wiimote.

However, Smoothboard is the only one giving me grief. Once it finishes connecting to the wiimote, it takes control of my mouse and parks it in the upper left corner of my screen and won't let go. I am using a Logitech Bluetooth mouse, with it's own adapter. Thinking this was a conflicting stack issue, i removed the Bluetooth mouse adapter, rebooted, and ran with my old USB mouse. Same thing happens.

As soon as i disconnect the Wiimote (red button inside) Smoothboard releases my mouse.

Wuzzup wit dat?
Anybody?

Hi,

If the cursor moves by itself, most probably there are stray IR sources detected by the Wiimote. This can be caused by sun light or infrared emitting lamps.

You may take a look at the Smoothboard's main window to determine the location of the detected points. If the IR pen is not activated, there should not be any IR dots detected.

If the Wiimote's view is totally blocked but the IR Dots are still detected, the Wiimote may be faulty.
